» New Single Phase Building Automation Starter (BAS 1PTM) combines simple control with a wide range overload.
New Single Phase Building Automation Starter (BAS 1PTM) combines simple control with a wide range overload.

An innovative smart starter for single phase motors has been developed by Cerus Industrial. The BAS-1P incorporates features for energy savings and automation system control in a compact package. The starter features voltage and dry inputs for ease of integration, system override modes (for smoke purge in fireman’s override), and a concealed hand-off-auto operation selection.

The starter also functions as a disconnect with a lockable motor rated switch. Thanks to a wide range overload, installation is simplified, eliminating call-backs due to mis-sized heaters.

Andrew Gross, Product Manager, describes, “The addition of the Single Phase Smart Starter not only provides energy savings by way of efficient energy management, it allows broad range capabilities with easy sensor integration. This new approach to controlling single phase applications now offers a solution to manage and thereby save energy. It’s ideal for integration with the automation system and occupancy sensors.”

In almost every project where building control systems are used, there is a need for simple on/off motor starters to control fans and pumps in the building. Unlike larger motors which run under variable speed for energy savings, smaller motors (1/12-1HP) typically run at 100% speed. With a centralized control and monitoring of the motor the new Single Phase Smart Starter saves vast amounts of energy over time.

Please visit www.cerusind.com to learn about the ways the BAS Single Phase Starter can help automate and provide better solutions for your building(s).

» Product: PROJECT RESOLUTIONS/EVALUATIONS
The ability to consider potential problems from both practical and theoretical standpoints are most noticeable during Client/Contractor disputes. Typically we collate historic and current information, obtained during our site visit, to provide recommendations that satisfy all the parties involved without the need for litigation proceedings. Evaluations of both systems and specific items of equipment are typically Client driven to qualify both operating costs and system efficiency. Experience has repeatedly shown us that either non-existent or ineffectual maintenance schedules, if suitably modified, can provide savings totally disproportionate to the size of the actual work required. If these methods are combined with specific energy reduction equipment the potential for savings are significant. ...
